The Contemporary Club of Albemarle is a lecture luncheon club founded in 1988 to preserve and promote a progressive interest in literature, art, and contemporary thought. The club is operated for the members' pleasure and intellectual enrichment.

Programs are intended to inform rather than advocate, bringing together women of shared interest from various sections of the community who might not otherwise become acquainted.

The club has approximately 200 women members who meet monthly between October and May.
